Drop in Jobs Can't Stop Rise in Stocks

Despite a reported loss of 742,000 jobs in the private sector in March, investors are focusing on the increases in pending home sales and manufacturing data. The Dow Jones industrial average increased by 152.68 points to 7,761.60, Standard & Poor's Index increased by 13.21 points to 811.80 and Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 23.01 points to 1,551.60. Internationally, Asian stocks surged - the MSCI Asia Pacific Index increased by 3.6 percent, Japan's Nikkei-225 Stock Average increased by 3 percent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index increased by 4.1 percent and South Korea's Kospi Index increased by 2.9 percent.
