Tough Times for Town Fathers
In the small town of Loganville, Georgia, pillars such as Tommy DeMilio of Wayne Thomas Group, Stanley Kelley of Community Bank, Maxie Price of Maxie Price Chevrolet, Betty McCullers of the Chamber of Commerce and Sandra LaChappelle of Loganville Elementary have donated millions of dollars to the city's parks, buildings, schools, a gymnasium and church. But due to the current credit crisis, the charitable business leaders have had to cut local donations, which has dramatically changed the civic landscape. And their story is just one typical of the hardships that small and medium-size communities across the nation are enduring.
