White House Chief of Staff Says Farm Subsidies Not 'Singled Out'

Farmers are not the only ones facing budget cuts. President Obama has proposed to cut the farm bill budget in addition to budgets for education, defense and other areas. Despite ardent objections from farm-state senators and House members who vowed to protect the direct subsidy payments promised in the 2008 Farm Bill, Obama will push for support from Democratic senators.
